Santiago Giménez is confident he will be part of Mexico’s 26-man squad that travels to Qatar. That is what a proud father Christian Giménez says in an interview with Marca Claro/MVS .
‘What does Santiago have in mind? He is confident that he will go,” said Giménez senior (41), who was also a professional football player himself. “I can’t ask him more than what he’s already doing. He is at a club like Feyenoord, where he performs well and scores in the Europa League. We are calm whatever Tata’s (national coach Gerardo Moreno) decision is.’
Father Giménez also had praise for Feyenoord. ‘I returned very calmly after a visit to Rotterdam, because he is at a great club. The Legion guides him in the right way to bring out the best version of himself and contribute to his professional maturity.’
At Feyenoord, 21-year-old Giménez was match winner last Thursday in the crucial win against Lazio (1-0). In the Eredivisie he has so far scored two goals in ten appearances. He scored twice in nine international matches for Mexico. Father Christian played five caps for the country from Central America.
